new, old lamps.....

we have always had a mish-mash of decor in our house.  we aren't the kind of people that would buy a whole room full of furniture and all of the matching accessories that go with the room all at the same time.  it was more like a couch here, a chair there, a picture for the wall... you know what i mean....
so most of our decor is a little eclectic and whimsical.  now that i have become ahem... addicted to thrift stores and making over junk, decor has become even more mish-mash.
but that's okay, because i am kind of fickle and my tastes change constantly.
so i needed new lamps for my buffet because we don't have a matching set of lamps in the whole house.
my budget is still quite small so off to goodwill i went and came home with two of
these
for this price...they were a nice shape but dirty, i think they were smokers because that brown stuff looks like tar.....ugh!
i painted one heirloom white but don thought that we had too much of that color in the house (i'm not sure why on earth he would think something like that)
so i painted them with krylon catalina mist spray paint.  i sprayed the bottom of the lamp
with silver paint.

i wanted drum shades but they were too expensive. these shades were found at target on clearance for 3.24 each from 12.99.  and i was only charged for one shade because they were together and she didn't notice when she rang them up.  i didn't notice that i didn't get charged for both until i was home.  i felt bad but not bad enough to go 20 minutes back to the store..  i know, i know, i'm going to hell...
i'm not sure how i like them with the color of the buffet but i think they kind of look like jadite....and i like that.....gotta love goodwill.....and target clearance!

I love your "new" lamps... Especially the silver base detail. It's amazing how much a can of spray paint can make a huge impact... Thanks for sharing.

The entire vignette is stunning. You couldn't have bought two new matching lamps that would have looked as good as the ones you have made over. I can't believe the price you got those lampshades for. They are the perfect size.

Thanks for linking up to "Meet Me On Monday"...

Take care,
Lisa

They'd look great if you added burlap over the tops and then some flowers for that added touch - great job and thanks for sharing!
