painted lady...

i loved this end table when i first saw it, sitting alone at the goodwill store with a tag for
$15.00 stuck to the top of it.
i love the style and the cute flower details on the sides....

what i didn't like was the two toned color and the yellowed and aged areas on the drawers.
i could do without the speckling on the paint job too!

my friend lisa came over one day and saw this table and just had to have it.  she was looking for a nightstand for her spare bedroom which was decorated in greens and creams.
i found a can of oops paint at the habitat for humanity re-store for a dollar (score!!) a while back and showed it to her.....perfect!!
i decided to stain the top of the end table in a dark stain called jacobean by minwax.
i saw some scratches showing through the stain on the top so i re-sanded and added another coat of stain.
not much detail showing through here.....
but with the glazing.....
it's lovely.....
the knobs are from hobby lobby and i love that they mimic the carved detail in the piece.
i love the stained top.
and the dainty feet...

lisa got a sneak peek yesterday (without the glazing).
i think she's gonna love it.....

it's still waiting the hardware for the bottom drawer to dry.  i'm using the pull that came on the piece and i sprayed it with an oil rubbed bronze finish.

and here is the finished reveal...

total cost:
nightstand....$15.00
ceramic knobs from hobby lobby...2@$2.00 each = $4.00
oops paint....$1.00
stain, spray paint for drawer pull, and glaze...already had on hand...$0.00
final cost......$20.00

tomorrow i'm off to pick up an antique dresser from a craigslist seller that i am also redoing for lisa.
hopefully it will look as good in person as it did in the pictures.  it is a great deal.  i'll share more on that later......
but right now, this is what the view out of my window is.....

i am sooooo ready for spring.......

The nightstand is the perfect size and the new paint job transformed it beautifully. I just left HomeGoods this afternoon looking for a side table and came home empty handed. I have to go thrifting!

Beautiful makeover, LOVE the stained top contrast... gorgeous! I might use this idea to makeover our entertainment center. I love the wood top, but also love the pop of color. Great job! :)
