a new, old mirror

i picked this mirror up at the habitat for humanity re-store this summer trying to do my part
to reuse and recycle the world's crap junk...
it was hideous.  seriously, who would have this......
in their house?  a woman was hauling this out of her car to donate when i spotted it.
she took $5.00 for it....
i was horrified, yet strangely fascinated at the same time.

then i was horrified again when i saw the big crack in the frame.
well, a little bit of glue and my
very best friend, heirloom white...and....
hello, gorgeous
please ignore the crack in the driveway....we had a crappy builder...

(what is with that face??? is that how i look when i take pictures??  i'm surprised kids smile for me at all!!)

another piece rescued from fugly
and
from 70's sick to shabby chic...

then, i saw this on someone's blog
a very close match to my little redo project.
the price tag on that mirror???  $65.

score!!!

Hey, this is brilliant, Cindy! Love what you did and the price, oh my! I feel like hanging out at our Restore today. You did a beautiful job. (I know what you mean about the face – every once in a while D takes a photo of me on a shoot and I am horrified!) xo – g

What's that old saying: "One person's trash is another's treasure." I loved your redo, and then loved it more when I saw the shabby chic for sale item at the bottom of your post. Brava.

I am so jealous of the talent it takes to see a hidden treasure and then know what to do with it to take it from crap to treasure!

Gorgeous redo, it came out great! I was wondering what it would look like with some glaze and then I saw the last pic. Either way, your mirror is lovely. Gotta hit the Restore!

A close match but mine is more like the one that you saw for $65. It has a trim border around the inside by the mirror. Thanks for stopping by, I love your blog. You are great at photography and painting. We must have the same taste because we even have the same patio furniture design.
